Curt Yagi
"Musically, I felt I had a lot to say."

July '07

Q: How did you get started?

Curt Yagi: After several years of performing in other peoples’ bands, I decided I would branch out and do something on my own. Musically, I felt I had a lot to say, so I started writing and performing as a solo artist.

Q: Do you have any stories about your experiences?

Curt Yagi: Besides the occasional string or two breaking midway through a song or the midweek gigs playing only for the lonely guy at the bar, nothing too out of the ordinary. I did work out too hard right before a show one time, and my arms kept cramping up making it very challenging to play. I learned my lesson on that one.

Q: What is your goal with this band?

Curt Yagi: Actually, right now I’ve got a full time job that I really enjoy. In fact, I am donating 100% of the proceeds from my current CD, Inside, to the nonprofit that I work for. Check it out at www.rocksf.org. Music is such a great escape for me in my spare time, but I am always open for considering any music offers that come my way.

Q:Do you have a favorite song to play?

Curt Yagi: The song I love to play live the most is “Can’t Get My Way”, which is on the Rockers for Life compilation. I think it’s my most danceable song, and I really try to work off of the crowd.

Q: Groupies?

Curt Yagi: For now, since I am just starting out, I think I can count the number of groupies on one hand, maybe one finger. Actually, I do have a bunch of friends who are very supportive and come to a lot of gigs.
